Dr. Venkat Potana is a professor, theologian, missiologist, pastor, and author with more than three decades of global ministry experience. He was raised in a Hindu temple-centered faith environment in India, but came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on August 7, 1993. Following his commitment to Christ, he took immersion baptism, became an active member of a local church, and began serving among university students, laying the foundation for his lifelong ministry. He holds a Ph.D. in Theology, along with advanced studies in intercultural studies, philosophy, social work, and divinity, equipping him with a strong multidisciplinary foundation for teaching, research, and applied ministry. His ministry is shaped by extensive field experience as a grassroots missionary, mission consultant, and intercultural trainer, working closely with mission agencies, pastors, and church leaders across diverse cultural contexts worldwide.
His approach integrates theological reflection with sociological awareness and practical mission strategy, with particular attention to Hindu cultural frameworks, diaspora dynamics, and relationship-based engagement in cross-cultural settings. He is widely recognized for developing structured training that combines strong conceptual frameworks with practical tools for real-life ministry application. Dr. Potana has authored more than one hundred books on theology, missions, discipleship, family life, and Christian practice, all available on Amazon, and has contributed to academic discourse through peer-reviewed publications and international conference presentations. He has also appeared on CBN and other media platforms to share his testimony and insights on culture and mission, and currently serves as a Lead Trainer in intercultural mission engagement with TEEM International Ministries, Dallas, TX.
He lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife Rita and their three children. Their two children are currently studying at Hardin-Simmons University, pursuing their university education with a vision to become medical doctors, while their son lives with them. Together, Dr. Potana and Rita are trained counselors through Prepare and Enrich and are deeply engaged in relational and discipleship-focused ministry. Their home serves as a center for Bible studies, mentoring, and spiritual formation. With a clear vision and deep passion, they are committed to evangelizing and discipling both national and international communities, creating a welcoming environment where individuals and families can grow in faith, experience authentic fellowship, and be equipped for life and ministry.
